3 Stars of the Week
Feb 17, 2025By Brian Germinaro | Bridgeport Islanders
The Bridgeport Islanders registered three out of a possible six points last week, earning a win against the Providence Bruins on the road Sunday afternoon and one point in an overtime loss in Hartford on Wednesday. Here are the “3 Stars of the Week” for February 9-16, 2025.
First Star: Chris Terry
Terry led the Islanders in scoring last week with three points (1g, 2a) over the three games. He launched a quick shot from the left circle into the back of the net on Wednesday to expand Bridgeport's lead over Hartford to 3-1 at the time. Then, on Sunday, Terry notched two assists for his team-leading 13th multi-point game. He currently leads the team in assists (31) and points (46), which ranks second most among all AHL players. He’s also been the club's most consistent power-play producer, racking up a team-high 20 power-play points.
Second Star: Marshall Warren
Warren logged a goal and an assist for his second multi-point performance on Sunday. He got the scoring started just 7:56 into the first period when he received a cross-ice pass from Terry, then let a wrist shot loose from the left side that got past Michael DiPietro. It’s the first time Warren has tallied multiple points since October 20, when he had two helpers against the Hartford Wolf Pack. Warren is second among Islanders rookies in goals (2) and points (11), as well as third among rookies in assists (9).
Third Star: Tyce Thompson
Thompson got his first game-winning goal of the season on Sunday when he fired a shot from the left side past DiPietro to give the Islanders a 3-2 lead with 5:13 remaining. It gave him first-star honors at Amica Mutual Pavilion. He was also credited with an assist on Terry's goal Wednesday night. Over the last four games, he’s recorded three points (2g, 1a). In his second season in Bridgeport, he’s potted six goals, one shy of his career-high, which he set during the 2021-22 season as a member of the Utica Comets.
