Apr 1, 2025By Brian Germinaro | Bridgeport Islanders
The Bridgeport Islanders registered two of a possible six points last week, highlighted by a comeback victory over the Toronto Marlies on Sunday afternoon. Despite the Islanders trailing 4-1 in the middle of the second period, they racked up four unanswered goals for the 5-4 final. Here are the “3 Stars of the Week” for Mar. 24-30.
First Star: Liam Foudy
Foudy was an offensive force on Sunday, tallying three points (2g, 1a) and playing a pivotal role in the Islanders' dramatic comeback. Just 14 seconds after Bridgeport fell behind 3-0, Toronto turned the puck over and Cam Thiesing found Foudy, who drove the net and got the better of Artur Akhtyamov for the Islanders' first goal. Then at 14:21 of the third period, Foudy got on a breakaway and found the back of the net to get the Islanders within one. It continued a career season for Foudy, who has career highs in goals (20), assists (20), and points (40). He currently ranks in the top three in goals and points with Bridgeport, as well as in the top five in assists.
Second Star: Cam Thiesing
Thiesing was the hero for the Islanders on Sunday. Just 1:13 into the third period, Foudy found Thiesing near the crease on a no-look backhand pass, and Thiesing put it home to give Bridgeport the 5-4 win. It’s the second time this season Thiesing has notched the game-winning score. He was also credited with the only assist on Foudy's first goal, 51 seconds into the second period. It was the third time this season that Thiesing recorded multi-points in the same game. It was the first time he achieved this since Mar. 5 in Hartford. He ranks in the top three among Islanders rookies in goals (6) and points (14).
Third Star: Chris Terry
Although Terry did not find the back of the net on Sunday, he played a crucial role in the Islanders' comeback victory. He logged three assists against the Marlies, with his third coming on Adam Beckham’s power-play goal. It is the second time this season that Terry has posted three assists in a game, and the fourth game he has earned three points. He currently leads the team in assists (43) and points (62) and is third on the team in goals (19). Terry has also been a force on the power play this season, notching a team-high 25 points and is tied with Brian Pinho for the team lead in power-play goals (7).
