Islanders Partner with Yale New Haven Toy Closet Program
Dec 18, 2024While the Bridgeport Islanders may not have a busy week on the ice, that doesn’t mean the pace has slowed down.
Following an intense practice on Tuesday morning, members of the team got into the holiday spirit and paid a visit to the Yale New Haven Hospital’s Toy Closet Program, delivering toys and packing them up for children and their families.
The Toy Closet Program provides gifts to children during hospital stays especially during Christmas time. More than $3,000 worth of toys were delivered to the cause, many donated through the generosity of Isles’ fans during the team’s toy drive prior to Sunday’s game against Laval. The Islanders also organized a recent shopping spree to Target, in which several of the players’ significant others overflowed carts with toys.
“For us to be here and see all of these toys, and to know that are going to kids, it’s something small we can do that could really change their day,” forward Chris Terry said. “It’s a much deeper meaning when you know where they’re going.”
Terry joined fellow players Seth Helgeson, Aidan Fulp, and Brian Pinho (left to right) for about 90 minutes at the New Haven location.
