With a training camp roster consisting of 36 players on Friday, the Sound Tigers will begin their final evaluations in crafting their 2019 opening night roster.
“I’m really excited for one,” head coach Brent Thompson said. “I think the guys came in this week with a great attitude, a commitment to work, a commitment to practice and preparation. I’m excited to see some of the guys back from last season and also to evaluate the newer guys, and get to know them individually.”
“Game situations are different than practice situations and this will be a great chance to assess what we've got in this group,” Thompson added. “Jobs are always still out there.”
Of the 36 players on the Sound Tigers training camp roster, 19 have previously dressed for the team, including former first-round draft picks Steve Bernier (2003) and Kieffer Bellows (2016). Former team captain Colin McDonald returns to the Park City for his second stint with the Sound Tigers, while two of the club’s goaltenders are New York Islanders draft picks - both hoping to make their pro debuts with Bridgeport next month. Those include Linus Soderstrom and Jakub Skarek.
In addition, two players are under contract with the Sound Tigers' ECHL affiliate, the Worcester Railers: Kyle Thomas and Sacred Heart University product Connor Doherty.
